Winterlicious is an annual Toronto culinary celebration. It allows people the opportunity to try prix fixe menus from a variety of restaurants across the city and offers unique culinary events. During Winterlicious I always take the chance to try a place I’ve never been to, allowing me to taste some of the best dishes on their menu at a (usually) discounted price!
This weekend I decided to try Piola’s $15 Prix Fixe Lunch Menu. As their sign says, they are “Famosi Per La Pizza”, and they didn’t disappoint!!! They’re located at 1165 Queen St W, and they offer classic italian dishes like thin crust pizza & pasta.
I started with a strong, delicious, Italian coffee (….and ordered a couple more after that)!
Bruschetta
Homemade bread sliced, oven toasted and topped with fresh tomatoes, basil and olive oil
Aristotele Salad
Mixed greens, goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, black pitted olives and cucumbers in a vinaigrette dressing
Fusilli al Pesto Pasta
Pesto sauce made with fresh basil, virgin olive oil, pine nuts, Grana Padano cheese and garlic
Ortomisto Pizza
Mozzarella, goat cheese, grilled vegetables and cherry tomatoes
Margherita Pizza
The classic pizza topped with mozzarella and fresh basil
(It smelled so good, I couldn’t wait to take a bite!)
Gelato al Limone & Gelato alla Vaniglia
My favourite was the Margherita Pizza and the Aristotele Salad! The Fusilli Pasta was particularly good the next day and I would DEFINITELY go back for a coffee!!
Happy Eating!
